Glenn Frey - Soul Searchin' Liner Notes

Liner Notes

Sleeve:
Side One

Livin' Right*
(Glenn Frey and Jack Tempchin)
My anthem to fitness. Jack and I both started working out, eating right and generally tightening up our acts. Having tried nearly every other way to feel good, we've wound up back in gym class. Who'd of thunk it!
Arranged by Glenn Frey, Hawk Wolinski, and Gregg Smith
Drums Russ Kunkel
Bass Glenn Frey
Keyboards Glenn Frey and Hawk Wolinski
Guitar Glenn Frey
Percussion Glenn Frey and Steve Forman
Horns The Heart Attack Horns
Saxophone Solo Bill Bergman
Background Vocals Glenn Frey

Some Kind of Blue
(Glenn Frey and Jack Tempchin)
I always wanted to do a song with no snare drum, just hand claps and finger snaps. As soon as I wrote the drum program, the song came in and wrote itself.
Drums John Robinson and Glenn Frey
Bass Glenn Frey
Guitar Glenn Frey and Michael Landau
Keyboards Glenn Frey and Ron Skies
Percussion Glenn Frey
Saxophone Al Garth
Background Vocals Glenn Frey, Timothy B. Schmit and Roy Galloway

True Love
(Glenn Frey and Jack Tempchin)
For those of you who have my previous albums, I apologize. I just can't shake my obsession with this Al Green-Memphis thing. Like Wilson Pickett says, "Don't Fight It."
Drums Glenn Frey
Bass Glenn Frey
Guitar Glenn Frey
Keyboards Glenn Frey, Barry Beckett and Robbie Buchanan
Percussion Ralph MacDonald
Horns Arranged by Gregg Smith and Glenn Frey
Saxophone Chris Mostert
Background Vocals Glenn Frey and Julia Waters and Maxine Waters

Can't Put Out This Fire
(Glenn Frey and Jack Tempchin)
Jack started playing the intro guitar lick, I picked up the bass and we wrote this song one rainy night in March. It features fine percussion work by Steve Forman and a great horn chart by Gregg Smith.
Drums John Robinson
Bass Glenn Frey
Guitar Glenn Frey
Keyboards Glenn Frey and Steve Thoma and Ron Skies
Percussion Steve Forman and Glenn Frey
Horns Arranged by Gregg Smith
Background Vocals Glenn Frey, Julia Waters and Maxine Waters

I Did It For Your Love*
(Glenn Frey and Jack Tempchin)
The song is the end title theme for the film, "An American Murder." A straight ahead love song for a murder mystery seemed pretty twisted to me. After all, what is murder but love gone wrong.
Drums Russ Kunkel
Bass Glenn Frey
Keyboards Glenn Frey, Hawk Wolinski and Ron Skies
Guitar Glenn Frey
Percussion Steve Forman
Strings and French Horns Arranged by Nick DeCaro and Glenn Frey

Side Two

Let's Pretend We're Still in Love
(Glenn Frey and Jack Tempchin)
All I can say about this one is long live Thom Bell, the Spinners and the Sounds of Philadelphia.
Drums John Robinson
Bass Glenn Frey
Guitar Glenn Frey and Michael Landau
Percussion Ralph MacDonald
Background Vocals Glenn Frey, Timothy B. Schmit and Roy Galloway

Working Man
(Glenn Frey and Jack Tempchin)
I originally wrote this song for the ill-fated feature film, "Let's Get Harry," but it's for working men and women everywhere, like my dad, Eddie, and my brother, Alan.
Drums Glenn Frey
Bass Glenn Frey
Guitar Glenn FreY
Keyboards Glenn Frey, Hawk Wolinski, Steve Thoma and Ron Skies
Percussion Steve Forman
Horns Arranged by Gregg Smith and Glenn Frey
Background Vocals Glenn Frey and Max Carl

Soul Searchin'
(Glenn Frey, Jack Tempchin and Duncan Cameron)
Here's the message, folks. You can't change the world but you can change yourself. Coach John Wooden said you shouldn't concern yourself with people's perception of you but rather concern yourself with your character which is the true measure of who and what you are. I buy that.
Drums Roger Hawkins
Bass David Hood
Guitar Duncan Cameron
Keyboards Glenn Frey, Barry Beckett, Steve Nathan and Steve Thoma
Percussion Ralph MacDonald
Strings Arranged by Nick DeCaro and Glenn Frey
Background Vocals Glenn Frey, Roy Galloway, Julie Waters, Maxine Waters, Oren Waters, Duncan Cameron and The Institutional Radio Choir - Directed by Carl Williams

Two Hearts**
(Hawk Wolinski and James Newton Howard)
A cool little tune written by my friend, Hawk Wolinski. It features great synthesizer work by Robbie Buchanan and a rare (as opposed to well done) guitar solo by yours truly.
Drums John Robinson
Bass Neil Stubenhaus
Guitar Glenn Frey, Paul Jackson, Jr.† and Bruce Gaitsch
Keyboards Hawk Wolinski and Robbie Buchanan
Percussion Ralph MacDonald
Background Vocals Glenn Frey

The title says it all, I wish everyone luck, love and happiness. Your friend in music, Glenn Frey.
Drums Prairie Prince
Bass David Chamberlain
Guitar Michael Landau
Keyboards Stevie Thoma and Ron Skies
Percussion Ralph MacDonald
